Homeward Collective: Module 1 Cohort

Embodied work with horses through trust and connection

When we enter a partnership with horses through consent, listening, self-awareness, and integrity, we unlock curiosity and connection—in ourselves and our equine partners—without control, compliance, or the repetition of training.

This course is designed for people who enjoy being with horses and want a more relational and ethical approach than what most riding schools offer. It is for those who have been in connection with horses in the past, as a child or adult, and want to reconnect and learn in a supportive, natural environment where they are active partners in building their awareness and confidence with horses.

In these small group cohorts you will work with horses through the lens of trust and connection, not control or compliance.

The arc of learning consists of 3 modules; each module consists of 6 weekly sessions (2 hours each). Participants start with Module 1 and upon completion can opt to continue to the next modules.

The Arc of Learning

Module 1: Safety, Agency, and Choice

In the first module you will learn how to safely be with the herd in freedom; hold ground and embody a clear “yes” and “no”; practice making requests and honoring consent; learn how to be a sturdy and trustworthy leader; and care for the horses in a way that honors their dignity and agency.

Module 2: Trust and Communication (includes groundwork)

In the second module you will build upon the skills of Module 1, moving into the realm of trust and clear, consistent communication. We will practice leading outside of the farm and develop groundwork skills; if horse and human are ready, we may explore mounting in freedom.

Module 3: Partnership and Attunement (includes groundwork, supported riding, and independent riding for those ready)

When both horse and human are grounded, present, and actively listening to each other, a real partnership forms. Module 3 reinforces and deepens the practices of Module 2 through groundwork, supported riding, and independent riding for those ready.

Client Experience

"I absolutely loved this program! Module 1 provided a wonderful introduction to natural horse keeping and the concepts of trust, agency, and choice in the horse-human partnership. Amanda’s facilitation was exceptional, she’s a true expert in this work, creating a safe and supportive space for exploration and learning. Also the location was stunning, which added to the overall experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a deeper connection with themselves, others, and these magnificent animals."
